TAI MEN JO

Tai Men Jo ( 2010) Report

The night was very successfully run by Dai Sensei Blake Campbell who gave up his prominent position to be the MC for the night ( A brilliant job) . Although the attendance was down by about 25%, everyone enjoyed the night watching spectacular demonstrations by our bunch of highly skilled  Blacks. There was a film crew headed by Angus Samson who took a lot of footage on the night ( there were 3 cameramen roaming around all areas. Can’t wait to see the whole film.
I like thank from the bottom of my heart all those involved --- The Black Belts holders; Bambi and her crew of helpers;Shihan DI for the music station; Jamie & Jenica for helping at the canteen; Dai Sempai Doreen at the Admission; and all the sponsors ( Harvey Norman; Worldwide Martial Arts; John Rossi of POI Cosmetics; Dai Sempai Neil Simpson for his Bonsai and those who donated items for the raffles)
We collected $578.00 for the Raffles into our Tournament Account. We like to purchase another ring of Jig Saw mats.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following Blacks who won the awards on the night:-

Instructor Of The Year --- Sensei Wayne Boyd & Dai Sensei Luke Campbell;
Black Belt Of The Year --- Sempai Madelyn Boorer ( Mascot ); Sempai Brandon Reeve ( Junior); Dai Sempai Shane Coggins ( Senior).

I also like to thank those who organized my 70th  birthday surprise on the night. Many thanks to all the Blacks for presenting me with a personalized Registration Plate ( LFP-1 ) for my birthday. Thank you Holly & Devron Schwind who initiated the “Conspiracy”. Also, thank you Dai Sempai Neil Simpson for your lovely Bonsai. Honestly, what you guys have done for me on the night really touched my heart, I never expect ed all that. I wasn’t even going to think of my birthday this year due to my recent person issue which really threw me and “destablised” me. But, luckily, I do have a bunch of very loyal and sincere friends in LFP who greatly helped to make me stay on my feet. Thank you all.
Our next BIG EVENT will be LFP”s 30th ANNIVERSARY. Holly Schwind is going to organize this one. She is calling for  representatives from each of LFP dojos to come along to a meeting ( date to be set) and a committee will be set up to run this event. Please call Holly on 87118233 for details. The date of the Anniversary is 25/6/2011.
Cheers for now.
Kancho

  1. To bring about unity in the style
  2. To exercise respect among all black belt holders in LFP
  3. To Honour every black belt holder in LFP
  4. The preservation of our style

All of the above aims will eventually strengthen our style to become the most advanced and respected style in Australia.  To understand and to accept the aim of Tai Men Jo is the wish of our leader Kancho Terry Lim

The 11 Kata’s Circle
These places are only given to senior black belts.  The newer Black belt holders will occupy the lower Kata positions.  These black belts are the fighting men and women, and they all carry a BO always ready to defend the black belts of the inner circles.  They are the “Protectors”.

The 7 Bushido Codes
These are the “Warriors”, and represent the 7 virtues of the Bushido Code: Loyalty, Justice, Courage, Benevolence, Politeness, Veracity and Honour.

The 5 Elements
Our cosmos revolves around these elements; they are Earth, Water, Wood, Fire and Metal.  These positions are represented by 5 higher black belts, usually Nidan or above.

The Kwan Kong
He is the “Door God” and the ”Protector” of the inner circles (The 5 elements, Spirit of Chi, The Yin and Yang, Kancho).  His strength and power are supported by his dreaded sword the Kwan Tau and his physique.

The 3 Generals – the spirit of CHI
CHI is life; Chi is involved in all forms of martial arts training and is totally accepted by all martial artists to be the vital ingredient which determines his/her strength and power.  Good CHI will prolong a persons life.

The Yin and Yang Circle
These two equal and opposite forces are indestructible, they complement each other; together they form TAO (The Way).  These positions are only occupied by the Masters left and right hand men/women.  They provide total loyalty and protection to the master of our style.

The Master
In the centre of the Yin and Yang the master of the style will be seated.  He provides direction, knowledge and wisdom to all in the style.
